Beeswax

What is Beeswax?

  1. A complex mixture of organic compounds secreted by four pairs of special glands on the worker bee's abdomen and used for building comb. Its melting point is from 143.6 to 147.2 degrees F.
  2. The substance secreted by glands in the worker bee’s abdomen that is used by the bees to build comb. It can be harvested by the beekeeper and used to make candles, cosmetics, and other beeswax products.
  3. Wax secreted by the wax glands of the worker bee.
  4. A substance that is secreted by glands on the worker bee. This is the primary building material used by bees to build comb.
