What is Prime swarm (Primary swarm)?

  1. The first swarm to leave the parent colony, usually with the old queen (see secondary swarm).
  2. The first swarm that leaves the parent colony. Swarms that issue later are referred to as ‘afterswarms’ or ‘secondary swarms’.
